Values

Several kinds of value are written as short strings with a format of their own.

Text. Unquoted YAML numbers and booleans are read as their text.

An expression, written with a leading ‘=’ (=Population > 0). The ‘=’ is optional where only an expression is accepted (filter, by, variables). Numbers and booleans are literal values.

A distance: a number of points, or a number with a unit (pt, mm, cm, in, px), a percentage, a fraction of the remaining space (fr) or auto.

A named paper size (A3, A4, A5, Letter, Legal) or an explicit “width x height” in absolute units.

Margins or padding, as in CSS: one length for all sides, “vertical horizontal”, “top right bottom left”, or an object with top, right, bottom and left.

A border or line: width, style (solid, dashed, dotted, none) and color, in any order and each optional. Defaults to 1pt solid black; a bare number is the width.

An expression to sort by, optionally followed by asc or desc: “Name”, “Population desc”.
